Occupational pathologies of the 21st century, can we foresee them?

Abstract

The following work is a descriptive study on the risk of occupational diseases or accidents due to exposure to materials or machinery used at work. Its purpose is to predict the trend of pathologies in the coming years, depending on the type of work, the time commitment, and the specific conditions of each circumstance. Without investigative pretensions, and with a single objective, it is more of a summary that provides information on technical standards for prevention and their origin, industrial processes, confirmation of occupational diseases, and resources for their determination. The text is organized into three aspects: The organizations and standards that regulate the hygiene, health, and safety of workers and the work environment. The industrial processes, their activities, and the equipment and systems susceptible to illness from exposure to such activities. The determination of potential occupational diseases through health management using the new technologies currently applied, and the need to investigate the work process, its new options, and the risks involved.
